04/05/2012 — Europe’s Future – with Turkey
The Accademia Europeista del Friuli Venezia Giulia, in collaboration with the University of Udine and the International Institute of Sociology of Gorizia (ISIG) organised a conference under the theme “Europe’s future – with Turkey” with the Turkish researcher Derya Yuksek, from Middle East Technical University. The conference was held yesterday in Gorizia, and highlighted the important role of Turkey in the region, with its strategic location, large economy and wide scale relations with the entire world. Europe and Turkey have a close dialogue and an extensive harmonization process, which gained momentum after the official candidacy status granted in 2005. However, uncertainties and delays in membership pose risks for both sides in the face of shifting balances in the world, which hints at an urgency for integration in order not to lose sense of direction.
Turkish researcher Derya Yuksek, currently in Gorizia for a study program at ISIG, also discussed about the European idea and Modernization in Turkey, presenting risks for both Europe and Turkey, and Turkish Public Opinion towards EU Membership.
According to the Turkish researcher, Europe of the future will be defined and shaped not by states, but by the public, by its citizens. A society that prioritizes dialogue and communicative reason, that interacts and cooperates beyond the borders, and the EU has the potential to lead the way for this kind of a development, with Turkey as a key player and a complementary factor in this process.
01/03/2012 — European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012
During first two months of 2012 several EU Member States held official ceremonies to launch the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity. The objectives of the European Year 2012 are to raise awareness, spread good practice, encouraging policymakers and stakeholders at all levels to facilitate active ageing.
The Accademia Europeista del Friuli Venezia Giulia, to celebrate the European Year 2012, will organise a “cross-border” conference with the Assessor of Social Affairs of Gorizia and her Slovenian counterpart from the neighbouring city of Nova Gorica.
01/02/2012 — Youth in Action Programme
Staff of the Accademia Europeista attended a seminar about the EU programme “Youth in Action”, organised by the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Italian National Agency for Youth on 30 and 31 January. The Accademia Europeista del Friuli Venezia Giulia is looking for partners to start a project under Action 1.1 (Youth Exchanges).27/01/2012 — Board of Directors and Board of Auditors Elections
